SPL work in Africa
SPL has worked with the Public Procurement Authority Ghana to support the development of sustainable procurement processes and systems.
This was a Swiss-Ghana project funded by SECO, the Swiss Secretariat for Economic Cooperation.
SPL have also undertaken a range of support for the African Development Bank, which has included incorporating sustainable procurement into the Bank’s Procurement Manual, development of Sustainable Procurement policy, training and remote support. Work with started while the Bank was operating from its temporary headquarters in Tunis and continued after the move back to Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire.
This supports the Bank's Strategy for 2013-2022 'At the Center of Africa's Transformation'. This strategy sets out a 'response not only to sustainable growth, but also to the sustainable management of natural resources. Africa's development is so closely tied to nature, and economic growth is not sustainable without preserving the continent's natural capital, land, water, marine, forest and natural resources'.
