In September, Barbara Morton attended the NHS Scotland Sustainability Conference 2018. The original programme had to be tweaked a little due to some presenters being held up or prevented from attending by the storm the day before, but it was well attended, and Barabara was particularly impressed by the breakout session led by Sharon Pfleger, Pharmaceutical Public Health Consultant NHSHighland:
"Greening the annual £1.6 billion in pharmaceuticals for a sustainable NHS, healthy population and planet." The presentation stimulated a lively discussion on the threats to human health from the inappropriate disposal of prescribed medication and from antibiotic resistance.
