Scottish Government - what, how & how much?

SPL have been working closely with Scottish Government Procurement to review Climate Change commitments and aspirations, and how these are affected by what is being purchased, how much is being purchased, and how purchases are made.

Circular economy - boost jobs, cut extraction

The European Commission have reported on a study, finding that a circular economy could reduce global levels of raw material extraction by 10% by 2030. The impact would be that the types of jobs available would be significantly different to what is currently on offer, less low-medium skilled work in manufacturing and mining sectors, and more opportunities for medium-high skilled jobs in the service sector.

Approximately 10 million tonnes of furniture is discarded annually across the EU (Eunomia, 2017).
SPL encounters many cases of furniture category procurement, initially not considering refurbishment, repair and/or re-manufacture.
